When moving home, one of the most time consuming and potentially laborious tasks is packing up all of your belongings ready for the next house. However, all is not so bleak, and packing up your belongings can actually by better than hiring professional packers to do the job for you.
At Martins Mill Packaging we know all about packaging and have written a short list of reasons why packing up your belongings on your own is actually a good idea. With over 20 years of experience from working in Halifax and Greater West Yorkshire, we are sure we can help you out.
Packers are expensive
Hiring people to come and pack your goods for you can be quite costly, which is the main reason why people don’t opt for professional packers. Considering you’re already probably paying a service to move your belongings for you, to add in packaging to their job could add upwards of several hundred pounds onto the bill.
When you hire packers they will pack your belongings how they see fit, which may not necessarily be how you want. For example, kitchen goods may be packed with other items from the house such as bedding, whereas you may want to keep certain belongings together. If you like your things to be handled and packaged in a particular way, it would make more sense if you packed your belongings yourself.
Impersonal and intrusive
Hiring packers can sometimes be impersonal and intrusive, after all, you are hiring strangers to go through your house and your belongings and then load them into a van. It is not uncommon for people to want to pack personal belongings, particularly sentimental objects.
As industry professionals we strongly encourage that people thoroughly research the company they’re hiring if they do decide to have professional packers.
