When posting large or heavy items to your customers it is really important that they are packaged correctly in order to protect the contents whilst they travel from A to B. Luckily there are lots of things you can do to minimise the chances of anything breaking during transit. Here are three tips for how to secure heavy items:

  1. Pack separately

First of all it is a good idea to pack heavy items separately rather than posting two or more pieces together in the same parcel. This is because there is a danger that the items will get broken or damaged during transit if they are combined into one package.

  1. Pack tightly

It is important to use a suitable sized box for the item you wish to send. Choosing as small a one as possible is helpful as it will make it easier for handlers to carry at various stages during its journey. It will also enable you to pack it tightly. Packing a box tightly is recommended so that the item does not have any leeway to move around during transportation as this may lead to damage.

  1. Use protective packing materials

Finally, you should make sure you select the correct packing items for the particular product you are posting. Different materials suit different items, for example bubble wrap is a good option for glassware whereas paper or Styrofoam is more suited to metal products.
